Sonoma Partners In the News

Microsoft Event Highlights Hosted CRM Apps
VAR Business - August 5, 2007

"This will allow us to sell to companies [that] wouldn't buy before because they didn't have the infrastructure," says Mike Snyder, a principal with Sonoma Partners, a Chicago-based solution provider that works with Microsoft's CRM applications.

New MS Marketplace to Compete with Salesforce.com
eWeek - July 11, 2007
Mike Snyder, principal at Sonoma Partners, a Microsoft CRM partner, said that Microsoft's marketplace will be a great place to get exposure—and will enable him to compete better with Salesforce.com for at least the next year.

"Conceptually Microsoft CRM is very customizable, very configurable," said Snyder. "A customer goes out to the marketplace [and finds] pre-built customizations. [As a partner] if you are in real estate and want to put in your customizations you don't have to build from scratch. You click a button and suck [Microsoft's template] into your system."

Microsoft Aims Low With Dynamics Live CRM Pricing
eCommerce Times - July 11, 2007

Companies will be using the early access period as a sales and research-gathering exercise in preparation for Live CRM's debut, Mike Snyder, head of Sonoma Partners, told CRM Buyer.

Features he predicts they will like include the addition of Windows Workflow Foundation, which he considers a much more robust tool. "Also, the interface has become easier to use."

The price points won't need for a sales pitch, he remarked. "You could say the pricing is the iconic feature -- it is very aggressive, less than half of what other firms charge."

Microsoft Details Pricing, Availability Of Hosted CRM Apps

Some solution providers say the hosted version of the CRM application will provide them with more sales options when working with small businesses -- say, those with 25 to 50 seats -- that may lack Microsoft's SQL Server database and other supporting IT systems. "This will allow us to sell to companies who wouldn't buy before because they didn't have the infrastructure," says Mike Snyder, a principal with Sonoma Partners, a Chicago solution provider that works with Microsoft's CRM applications.

Microsoft Looks to Undercut CRM Rivals on Pricing
eWeek - July 10, 2007
Mike Snyder, principal of Sonoma Partners, a Chicago-based consultancy that built a business around integrating and customizing Microsoft's CRM products, is of a different mindset than Benioff.

From Snyder's perspective, Microsoft's Live pricing is fantastic. Snyder said his primary competitor in sales deals is Salesforce.com, and that Microsoft's pricing will indeed have an impact on the market.

"Salesforce has been growing, but I don't think they are super profitable, if at all," Snyder said. "If they don't change their pricing, they will lose customers on price; if they don't, they are charging twice as much as Microsoft. If they do [cut prices], they're going to cut into their profitability."

He said Microsoft's pricing for CRM Live is in line with its strategy across the board. "Microsoft's business model has very low pricing—not just CRM, everything. They price everything low," he said.

Team Play: Target Practice
Big Builder Magazine - February 1, 2007

Looking for an opportunity to manage leads, manage the sales flow, and track what happens to the potential customer, they integrated Chicago-based Sonoma Partners' CRM Elements for Real Estate, a “custom off-the-shelf” software system. CRM Elements is built on top of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform and is accessible from Microsoft Outlook and the Internet so builders can quickly get up and running without a lot of end-user training, according to Mike Snyder, principal of Sonoma Partners.

“Nearly 90 percent of the [companies] I speak with rely on either Excel or Outlook to keep track of sales leads and monitor the sales process,” Snyder says. “These programs help organize data, but they don't necessarily help you analyze it.”

A New Flavor of Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Destination CRM - January 10, 2007

Mike Snyder, a principal at Sonoma Partners, service provider and reseller of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, agrees. "It's all positive. There could be a few partners that are negatively affected as a result of Microsoft entering into hosting, but the multiple deployment options are great for the customers and partners alike." Snyder says he sees the majority of Sonoma's customers starting hosted and then switching to the on-premise solution as they realize the value of the software, or increase their user base. "The more deployment options you give the customers, the better it is for them."

Microsoft Press Release - January 10, 2007
