Microsoft Ships Belated CRM Update

Microsoft partner Mike Snyder, principal at Chicago services firm Sonoma Partners LLC, cited improved Outlook and Office integration and the ability to add custom entities to Microsoft CRM as two of the most useful enhancements. The new CRM software and Outlook share a nearly identical look and feel, according to those who have seen early demonstrations of Version 3.0, Snyder said.

Microsoft CRM 3.0 Beta Gets Cozy with Office

Mike Snyder, principal owner of Sonoma Partners LLC, a Microsoft CRM reseller and consultant in Chicago, said he was most impressed with the "completely revamped integration with Microsoft Outlook that is much improved over the previous version."

It is also easy to export CRM data to Excel and to distribute Excel reports to multiple users, he said.

The new version "bakes in" security clearances into the reports so that individual users only see the data results they are authorized to see, said Snyder.

CRM 3.0 will also refresh data stored in the reports every time they are reopened, he noted.

Microsoft Delays CRM Update, Again

Microsoft ran a small alpha test of its updated software but hadn't yet begun a planned broader beta test, according to Mike Snyder, principal of Chicago-based Sonoma Partners, a services firm that specializes in Microsoft CRM. "Obviously we'd like it sooner, but I don't think anyone will be surprised by this," he says.
