Microsoft CRM and Windows XP SP2

With Microsoft's highly anticipated release of Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), there are drastic security improvements in network protection, memory protection, email handling, and enhanced browser security. After investigating the impact of the Windows XP SP2 on Microsoft CRM, Microsoft released product udpates and instructions to ensure that CRM v1.2 is compatible with Windows XP SP2.

Installing Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) will prevent Microsoft Business Solutions CRM versions 1.0 and 1.2 from running correctly. Microsoft CRM version 1.0 is not supported on Windows XP SP2. Microsoft CRM version 1.2 requires updates to both the Microsoft CRM Server and Microsoft CRM Sales for Outlook (Outlook client) computers and several manual configuration workarounds to operate correctly.

For a detailed list of instructions to run Windows XP SP2 and Microsoft CRM 1.2, please refer to Microsoft Knowledgebase Article #870635.
